Unfortunately, we have all heard enough dental nightmare stories to fill the pages of a Stephen King novel. It has always been our philosophy that dental treatment should be pain-free. Each member of our team is dedicated to making your comfort their priority. Any apprehension you may be experiencing concerning your dental needs is important to us. We want to know so we can take every measure possible to insure a comfortable, pain-free experience. We are currently using Nitrile gloves, which are safe for all patients including those with latex sensitivity.
INFORM THEN PERFORM- We want you to know exactly what will be done prior to the onset of treatment. Any questions you may have regarding treatment will be discussed to your satisfaction. If during the procedure you need a break just let us know. You are in control.
PAINLESS INJECTIONS- Prior to numbing, a gel anesthetic is gently swabbed on with a Q-tip. Dr. Berger gently "shakes" your cheek as the anesthetic is given. This serves as an effective distraction thus making the injection virtually painless.
LAUGHING GAS- For those who need a little extra help relaxing laughing gas (nitrous oxide) is available. Our staff empathizes with your emotional reaction to dentistry.
INFECTION CONTROL- The dental team of Dr. Berger takes no risks with your health. To reduce the chance of cross contamination of disease from patient to patient, the following measures are implemented:
FACE MASKS- All of our staff wear face masks during active patient care. These masks prevent the spread of bacteria.
NITRILE GLOVES- New gloves are worn for every patient and disposed of immediately after their one and only use.
DISINFECTING OF COUNTERS AND OTHER OFFICE SURFACES- This standard health and sanitation procedure is performed routinely after each patient visit in every operatory and throughout all public areas of our office.
EQUIPMENT STERILIZATION- All instruments and handpieces are sterilized in our autoclave unit after each patient visit as recommended by the American Dental Association and OSHA. Our autoclave is checked routinely by an outside service which monitors the effectiveness of our sterilizing unit.
BIOFILMS- Initially reported on the program 20/20, potentially hazardous biofilms exist in the tubing of dental water lines. These lines in our office are connected to a closed system which utilizes sterilized water which is flushed out with an anti-bacterial solution to insure that only clean water reaches the patient's mouth. The water exceeds the ADA recommendation of <200cfu's/ml.
